Product Care

BronzeFactory.com is committed to offering only the best in products and customer care. Our products were bought to be displayed to the whole world because of it's magnificent quality and detail, not hidden away in the closet like others. And because of this theory, we would like to offer you some tips on keeping your precious values, still valuable. Over time the bronze, if exposed to moisture and oxygen, will begin to naturally accumulate thin green layers known as patina. The patinated bronze is at the beginning somewhat of a welcoming sight. The only problem about letting the bronze patinate naturally is that it tends to do it at a slow rate, taking from 4-7 years to begin. When the process does initiate, it starts accumulating in different regions of the statues bring out an undesirable effect, which we dubbed as the "Spot Effect." However when the process does finalized, the entire bronze should take on a green patina which makes the statue highly valuable for its color.

Subduing the Spot Effect

To help subdue the "Spot Effect", all you have to do is simply wax your bronzes. As a rule of thumb, we recommend that you wax indoor sculptures at least once a year and outdoor sculpture 2 to 3 time a year.

Cleaning Indoor Sculptures

  1. Using a soft cloth or old t-shirt, gently wipe your sculpture free of any dust or debris. A soft bristle paintbrush may be used for textured areas. If excessively dirty, a damp cloth may be used to gently wipe away debris.
  2. Make sure the sculpture is dry, then using a soft bristle brush *apply a thick coat of Trewax (Trewax can be purchases from your local hardware store.) When first applied the patina may darken but as the wax dries the original color should return.
  3. Let set for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, then gently buff back with a soft rag or that old t-shirt.
  4. You may repeat steps 2 and 3 until the desired effect is achieved.

Cleaning Outdoor Sculptures

  1. Begin by washing sculpture with a soapy water, and a fiber brush until all debris have been removed, rinse well with water.
  2. Next, dry sculpture completely either by towels or by natural sunlight, but be sure all water has been removed.
  3. After all water has been removed make sure the sculpture is cooled (early morning, shaded, or in the evening) then begin to *apply your Trewax. When first applied the patina may darken but as the wax dries the original color should return.
  4. Let set for approximately 5 to 10 minutes, then gently buff back with a soft rag or that old t-shirt.
  5. You may repeat steps 3 and 4 until the desired effect is achieved.
*NOTE: Bronze sculpture must be at room temperature or cooler, otherwise the wax will not be able to dry.
